St. Pauls to get tough on trash

By: Staff Report

ST. PAULS — Town officials in St. Pauls are asking residents to help improve the appearance of their community.

At its regular monthly meeting on Aug. 10, members of the town’s Board of Commissioners voted unanimously to enforce an ordinance on the books for years that requires residents to place their roll-out trash containers next to their residence.

According to information provided by the town, the local code enforcement official will be placing notices on any roll-out containers that are not placed next to the house within 48 hours of trash being picked up. The notices are being distributed to ensure that everyone knows about the ordinance and the reason for the enforcement.

In September, the code enforcement officer will be handing out fines to those who do not comply.

Anyone with a reason they cannot place the containers next to their house should call the town hall at 910-865-5164 and explain to any staff member their circumstances. Town officials say arrangements will be made for any reasonable request.
