Man severely injured in shooting at hotel

LUMBERTON — Police are looking for the person who shot and severely injured a 26-year-old man on Thursday night at a local hotel.

City police Capt. Terry Parker said in a statement that Shaquan Blount, whose address was not available, was shot multiple times and suffered life-threatening injuries. He was taken first to Southeastern Regional Medical Center and then transferred to another, undisclosed hospital.

Parker said Blount was shot at 10:58 p.m. inside room 238 at the Motel 6 located at 2361 Lackey St. The gunman was able to escape on foot. Parker said there is no immediate description of the gunman.

“At this time details are very limited concerning this incident,” Parker said in the statement.
